The new Alpha Dominche Steampunk is meaningful to the local, national and international coffee scenes. Perhaps you’ve heard us mention it a few times over the last year or so. We actually did a private SLC Mixers event around this fantastic machine but we were not allowed to post photos of it, but still got some cool stuff from it – see here.
What does it do?
Great question. It makes a cup of coffee suitable for the most casual of coffee fans to the snobiest. The award-winning Steampunk from Alpha Dominche offers a revolutionary new way to brew coffee and tea. It aims to ensure the most repeatable, flavorful extraction in every cup. But its more than a brewer; it’s a functional work of art. The first production version of the Steampunk won last year’s 2012 Best New Product Award.
So why is it important locally? I think that answer is a bit more obvious. The Steampunk is made right here in Salt Lake City where inventor Khristian Bombeck moved his family for the sake of manufacturing this machine that at the time was still a dream. As Salt Lake City emerges as its own unique scene, this machine’s international success will further support the greatness of our city.

i am biased. but nonetheless i think this is great on all sorts of levels. I owe SLC Mixers a ton as I was at the initial Alpha Dominche mixer, and met the crew that later hired me on!!
