The Doughy Maker

Reviewed by Josh

There’s a new product, made by a local family here in Utah, that I’m super excited to tell you about.  Meet the Doughy Maker.  Bring it with you to your next camping trip or barbecue to whip up some mighty tasty appetizers or desserts.  Here’s how it works…

Place your favorite brand of “pop-open” biscuit dough into your new “Doughy Maker,” one biscuit per compartment, you will need to roll or scrunch the dough so it fits, then secure the latch. Or if you’re feeling more creative, you can fill the dough with a filling of your choice, then, roll it into a ball, pinching up the sides to make sure the filling doesn’t come out.

Pick a medium hot spot of your fire or camp stove, not to hot and not too cold. Then hold the Doughy Maker, loaded with the dough, over your chosen spot of the fire.  Hold it there for 8 to 10 seconds and then turn the pan over and let it heat on the other side for 8 to 10 seconds.  Repeat this process, turning the pan over and over for 3 to 4 minutes.  Then remove the pan from the fire or heat source.

Once Doughys are done toss in butter then cinnamon sugar mixture and eat immediately!  They’re best when they are warm!

Comment with your favorite camp food to win you’re own Doughy Maker.  Winner will be chosen by Friday at 4pm.

  1. I love that this is a local family that came up with this awesome idea!

My favorite camp food will always be s’mores…try it with a peanut butter cup it is so delicious.

  2. My wife found a great campfire treat earlier this summer: Take one sugar cone, spread peanut butter around the inside, fill with chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and banana pieces. Wrap in tin foil and throw on medium coals for 3-4 minutes, turning once. Delicious, and easy to eat. Not nearly as messy as s’mores (which we also love with peanut butter cups).

  3. We’ve made something similar to these called Dough Boys, but the dough would easily fall off into the fire or get stuck to the stick. This would be a huge hit!

  4. My favorite campfood is a peanut butter cup ‘smore. Use your favorite peanut butter cup in place of the chocolate. Mmmm!

  5. This sounds even better than our “hobo pie” maker! Though I did love my hobo pies growning up – we made everything from pizza to grilled cheese to cherry pie filling/chocolate/marshmallow treats – whatever you can think to stuff between 2 pieces of bread.

    • thank Kalyn! It was fun to get to know all about this neat local product. Thanks for the introduction! I wish them the best of luck with their business.
