It’s great to have a friend in the chocolate business. Is that how the saying goes? Well for me it is anyways! I got to meet the queen of chocolate herself, Ruth Kendrick, this summer and walk through her confection making process. Her sass and wit, make for an award winning combination when it comes to chocolate confections. You will see by the varieties of chocolates she makes from passion fruit to beehive honey. During the holiday season you can find her chocolates at Les Madelienes, an easy stop for those shopping downtown for Christmas gifts, or on the Chocolot online store. If you had a big box of chocolates, which chocolate would you choose first? Comment for a chance to win one of two prizes – a box of toffee or a 12 piece box of our chocolates. Winner announced tomorrow at 9am. Victoria you won the toffee and Keri you are the winner of the box of chocolates! Congratulations!!
Here are some photos of Ruth Kendrick herself, the heart and soul of Chocolot. I shot these while visiting her chocolate studio this summer.
Great pics! These look amazing. I must try some.
I have a had a couple of very different ones. The chocolate I liked the best was a dark chocolate with pop rocks inside
Espresso Lavender! How fun! I love all these unique flavors! I would LOVE a box of chocolates!
I think I would go for the most unusual chocolate first. passion fruit? That sounds incredible.
I’m a sucker for Fleur de Sel Caramels. Ruth’s confections are beautiful and, oh, so, so delicious!
I rarely eat chocolate so when I do, I like to make it count. My favorite flavor mix is pretty traditional–dark chocolate covered vanilla buttercream. Simple. Rich. Delicious.
I love chocolate on chocolate…a chocolate truffle center covered in chocolate…it can be dark, bittersweet, or milk, anything works
When I get a box of chocolate I look, first, for how many pieces are mint flavored. If there are two, I eat one first and save the other for last. If there’s only one, I go for the most unique piece in the collection to start the tastebuds out with a bang!
How I love chocolate!
I am a sucker for dark chocolate. I haven’t gotten a chance to try all her chocolate yet but I am super excited about the strawberry balsamic and fleur de sel flavors.
*swoon*
I looooove Chocolot. They have more art in their chocolates than any other chocolatier I know. It’s not a desert, it’s performance art.
I have been so busy, I need to order some! So glad to see this post to remind me! Everything looks so amazing!
I always choose the craziest looking one first, doesn’t matter what it is! Thanks!
What beautiful chocolates! I’ll be on the lookout for Ruth’s chocolates. I always choose something chewy (caramel!) to start with.
I’m partial to white chocolate, but the rest of my household will eat the dark stuff!
