Cristiano Creminelli SLCmixer salami tasting

a taste of the Creminelli Salami SLCmixer

Cristiano Creminelli, along with his outgoing and passionate personality, joined us as we tasted his line of artisan meats and salami.  How often do you get to sit down for lunch and eat artisan meats beside the nationally acclaimed creator??  Not often, if ever.  So, we feel lucky not only to live in the same town as Cristiano but to also have gotten a few hours of his time to hear a bit more about his story.

And if it couldn’t get any better, he also brought his beautiful wife and daughter along with him.  Silvia, his wife, treated us to 3 of her favorite recipes using Creminelli meats.  We passed around her Salame Milano Involtini (puff pastry pin wheels with provolone and salame milano), Bresaola and Arugula Salad (thinly sliced bresaola topped with lemon juice, olive oil, arugula and shaved curls of parmegiano-reggiano), and skinny Italian imported breadsticks wrapped with prosciutto.

As we heard stories from 7th generation  salami maker, we had bites of some of Cristiano’s yet-to-be-released creations.  We tasted one salami that has interesting folk-tale about it. The Musica salami, made with pork liver and clove, was only brought out in Italian towns during festival weekends, when the musicians had been playing their hearts out for hours and needed a substantial meat to sustain them.

We ended our lunch satisfied by a good dose of Italian culture and artisan meats and also excited for what’s in store for this traditional Italian salami made in Utah.

If you are in Salt Lake and have yet to try Creminelli, you must pick up some salami for your next gathering or for a summer concert picnic.  As one who just traveled all the way to Italy, it really just doesn’t get much better than Creminelli Salami and we have access to it right here in Salt Lake!!
