My desire for 2010 is to help you encounter some of the best food Salt Lake City offers while giving you some highlights of the beautiful community and culture this city offers. Experiencing a meal is beyond the taste of food. It’s about the whole atmosphere and conversation. I hope this blog provides you with a worthwhile experience. Here’s to our our journey together in 2010 – I’m raising a mimosa.

There are some fantastic new restaurants in Salt Lake City as well as some legendary spots that you must visit if you have not already. This year I have made a list of a few places I haven’t visited yet. I want to help you form your list as well. Here is my list and some recommendations that I have for you and yours.

Mini’s Cupcake Cafe : sandwich/salad cafe with specialty cupcakes

Cucina Toscana : I am a bit embarassed I’ve never been here but it is on my must try list for sure.
Le Madeleines Cafe: Another place I can’t believe I haven’t visited yet. The photos online of their baked goods look divine.
Cafe Normandie : I’ve heard they have fabulous lunch and brunch, located in Holladay.

Eva’s: a fun tapa bar on Main Street, great place to bring some friends to and share a few different items
Ruth’s Diner: a classic Salt Lake City hot spot up Emigration Canyon, if you haven’t been here yet you should be ashamed of yourself
Forage: Salt Lake’s newest hot spot for local foodies. Serving several courses that take you on a delicious food journey throughout the evening
Bayleaf Cafe : Southern Comfort food in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City
Purple Sage – a twist on American Western food located in Park City. This is my favorite Park City restaurant and well worth a drive to Park City. And an opportunity to escape the inversion and see the new museum in Park City.
Takashi : Simply put, the best Sushi in Salt Lake City.

Let me know if you need a buddy at trying any of these places:) You have to go to Les Madelines and Cucina Toscona. Love them both! I love all of your picks too, we have the same taste:) Happy New Year! Glad you guys are back. Let's get together soon!
Cucina Toscana is just wonderful! Make sure you get a reservation, even on a week night. The first time my I went, it was a Wednesday night (no Jazz game or anything) and the hostess looked at us like we were straight up crazy for waltzing in without a reservation. We waited QUITE awhile for a table.
You should definitely come into Frida Bistro this year! Preferably this month!
I guess I need to get out of the house more! Haven't tried any of these and love to read the reviews…
Excellent list! I love a lot on your list and I need to try a few as well! A few other terrific spots are: Setebello, The Blind Dog and Cafe Normandie (at least in my opinion). LOVE that picture walking up Caputo's steps
I will have to add Frida Bistro and Cafe Normandie to my list I haven't been to either. I've been meaning to try Cafe Normandie for a long time! I've been to Blind Dog but only once a while back and enjoyed it…so I'll have to go back. I also really love Settebello, although my favorite pizza is at Maxwell's in Park City.
i went to meditrina [1394 s. west temple] for the first time and absolutely loved it! great tapas, fantastic wine selection, charming ambiance, and wonderful service. also, cafe madrid in holiday is another one of my favorites.
Sad to say I haven't been to most of those restaurants…though I have been to Cucina Toscana many many times. It is one of the best, authentic Italian in the state. Setebello is another AWESOME pizzeria that you will have to try!
Those all sound great! I am glad that you put this kist together- we are always at a loss as to what to try next. Thank You
What a mouth watering list.I hope you've had a chance to explore the wonder that is known as Mazza. Both locations are splendid, but I love the cozy ambiance of the 15th and 15th location. Also, Left Fork Grill, in Murray, is a little known spot that has some of the best pie west of the Mississippi. Happy Eating!
This is great! Thank you for posting this. I'm always looking for trustworthy Salt Lake foodies!
Thanks for the list! Definitely adding many of these to my list of restaurants to try!
I've lived in SLC most my life and haven't tried most of these. I need to get busy!
Thanks for this list. Hubby and I love trying new restaurants and love when places come highly recommended!

Thanks for the great list! I'm always looking for a fun, new, non-chain restaurant in SLC.
Love it. and I love the pictures Amy took!! Let's go to one of these places.. soon!
Have you been to The Tin Angel or Vinto? How about Pago? They all use farm fresh ingredients! I went to Vinto on Monday with my mom–you have to go, you will love it. I also love Cafe Normandie that was mentioned earlier.
Those all sound so good! Now only to get a babysitter… LOVE Red Iguana, and I'm so excited that they are opening another location!
Thanks so much for this list. I tend to go to the same places over and over (mostly Red Iguana!) so now I can get out of my rut!
I want to quote your post in my blog. It can?And you et an account on Twitter?
I will send your blog to my inlaws who still live in SLC. Plus its good for my husband and I when we go visit. Love the blog…nice work! Happy New Year
There is a new place on 3300 S and State that I have walked past called The Red Ginger Bistro. It looks amazing inside but kind of divey outside. It is for sure on my list this year. Sushi and Chinese; a friend of mine has been and said it was amazing. I am also a huge fan of Setebello for both the food and atmosphere. I even ran into Gov. Huntsman there one night.
Becky, love your list. Cucina Toscona is wonderful, just a bit pricy. I would also love to go to lunch with you anytime!
Thanks for all of the great tips!Anjer, I have been wanting to go to Cafe Madrid since moving here. I love Spanish food especially Spanish tapas. I will also have to try Meditrina.Miranda, I am a big Mazza fan but have never been to the 15th and 15th location so I'll have to do that soon!I have yet to go to Left Fork Grill so I need to come up with a good excuse to eat some pie.Candace, I love love Tin Angel! I have tried Pago once for lunch and enjoyed it but need to go back.Steph, the Red Ginger Bistro sounds super fun. As a big sushi fan I am always up for trying a new sushi joint! Thanks again for all of your wonderful suggestions!
Lovely blog you have here! Really captures the local spirit of Salt Lake, and is wonderfully informative. I'm totally adding this to my person blogroll as well as keeping up with you through Coffee Connection's twitter and such
And thanks for the restaurant recommendations! Hooray for great food!
Cafe Molise is one of my favorites. I also really like Epic, Wild Grape, Tiburon and Pats BBQ has the best bbq in town.
I'm excited about Frida Bistro, even though I haven't tried it yet. Rico's tamales are my favorite no-prep dinner. They're delicious, especially with Rico's roasted salsa.
Sure, sure, the food. But SERIOUSLY *GAH!* the boots, girl, tell us more about the boots!
So glad that SLC is getting on the "good food" bandwagon over the past year! Can't wait to see what new discoveries the new year brings!
Dee Dee, I agree on Pat's bbq. I also really enjoy Wild Grape. I have yet to go to Cafe Molise, Epic, and Tiburon so thanks for letting me know about those!Dualori, I'm making a quick post about the books just for you. Thanks for the idea!
I love your blog! You have introduced me to some fun restaurants that I otherwise have missed. Ruth's, however, is not one I've missed. It's one of my absolutely favorites!
just wanted to say you in beautiful in that first picture! and LOVE those boots! cant wait to read the story behind them!!!
Hello, thanks for this great post! great list! At Fox Rent A Car blog we also wrote a post about restaurants in Salt Lake City. We like to share such information as well as diverse other travel tips to inspire our readers for their next trip. Thanks again for sharing.
I am sad to report that Tipica closed at the end of January but Caputo's has created a new dining concept offering italian comfort style food in the dining room at night. Matt Caputo was describing the menu to me and it sounds great.
Cafe Normandie does have fabulous lunch and brunch. We moved close by and go at least once a month.I normally get their butternut squash soup. Yummy. I keep trying to recreate it, but all I know for certain is there is a ample portion of grated ginger. My husband loves the garlic burger. They also entice you with frech pastries you have to walk by in order to pay. The fruit tart has hidden chocolate at the bottom, quite fabulous.
I love trying new restaurants, thanks for these wonderful recommendations! Reading these reviews makes me want to break away from my "usual" eating-out places and try new ones!
