We ventured out to Whole Foods the other day to pick up some groceries and we noticed that they accept Isis. We are giving Isis a shot even though we’re a little skeptical. Full disclosure: Isis asked us to give it a try and, if we were inclined, to put a post up about our experience.
Isis is a mobile wallet of sorts. You can basically put your cash and credit cards into Isis and then pay anywhere Isis is accepted. In the picture above you can see how it works. Just wave it over the Isis-accepting machine. Salt Lake City and Austin are acting as temporary test markets for Isis. It’s certainly in beta form, but once all the kinks are worked out, no doubt we’ll be users of the mobile wallet.
The only downside is that it’s not on the iPhone. Simply put, iPhone chose not to put the necessary hardware in their phone, but I hear there will be a way around that in the near future. Once that’s in effect and more establishments accept it, most likely we’ll adopt this technology fully.
We’re a local food blog, not a tech blog. Sorry for the quick commercial.
