Each week Jim Santangelo sends out an email with his wine of the week.  Jim, or as some call him, the Virtual Sommelier, is a local wine expert and mentor in the Salt Lake wine scene. We really believe in Jim and what he’s done and is doing for the Utah beverage culture.  The community is better off because of Jim and we want to get in on supporting him.  We want to make sure you know who he is and what he offers.  So, from time to time we’re going to buy his wine of the week to feature here on theSLCfoodie.com.

Wine of the Week: Atrea ‘Skid’ Rosé
Vintage: 2011
Varietals: 86% Malbec / 14% Grenache
Alcohol: 13.2
Region: Mendacino County, California
Available at Utah’s Wine Store for $14.99.

The skid rose has a nice salmon color with red fruit on the nose. If you need feel the need to pair your wine with something, feel free to try this one with a cucumber sandwich or steamed mussels. It’s more than ok to enjoy this one on its own too. No pressure to try and pair it. It sings by itself.
