A Local’s Guide to Park City: Fairweather Foods

Reviewed by Becky
In attempts to find out where the locals eat in Park City, I discovered Fairweather Foods.  This little health food market is a place where locals run into good friends, fresh food is served daily, and everyone knows your name (literally).  I came in with a friend, Katie, a local Park City gal, and not only did she run into several friends there but everyone who worked there also seemed to know her.  Is this what life is like in a small town?

Fairweather foods offers delicious vegan and vegetarian options.  They have soups of the day as well as several sandwiches and beautifully made salads. You’ll also find a quote of the day written on a small white board in the back.  The day I came, this is what was written:
“Never try to tell everything you know. It may take too short a time”  – Norman Ford
For lunch I tried a delicious curry soup along with a savory vegan scone. All of their soups are vegan and made fresh daily. Katie ordered a delicious looking salad.  Salads can be topped with tuna salad, egg salad or vegan chicken salad.  As we ate, I noticed several locals walking in and grabbing pre-made sandwiches from the back.  From what I hear, they make a pretty mean turkey swiss sandwich on whole wheat bread.
Of course, not only can you drop in for lunch and to visit some local friends, there is also a great selection of natural foods, supplements, and produce.  For those who enjoy juices, I hear their juices are pretty spectacular as well. They also have a row of bulk grains and a good selection of spices.  I tasted some of the best almonds I have ever had there, they were ‘sprouted almonds’ and tasted almost buttery.
Before leaving grab one of the Vegan Everything Cookies or a Vegan Pumpkin Muffin for the next morning.  You won’t regret it!

    • I love all the info that you’re posting laelty! I’ve been trying to incorporate more whole foods into my diet laelty, so it’s perfect timing and great motivation. Do you happen to know of any whole foods vegan cookbooks? I’m having a hard time finding any, aside from raw foods cookbooks, which are great, but not exactly what I’m looking for right now. If you have any suggestions let me know. Thanks!
