Winter Farmers Market in Salt Lake

Reviewed by Becky

Maybe I’m late to tell you this news, but there’s an indoor farmers market going on in Salt Lake.  I just had the chance to pick up some meat and produce there the other day and couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before.  The market is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on State Street.  It will stay open until May 1st so there’s still plenty of time to check it out.

A few food items you might find there:  fresh seafood, Morgan Valley Lamb products, Volkers Bakery bread, grass fed beef, locally made granola, and fresh fruit from Fowers Fruit Ranch.  I picked up lots of apples to make homemade apple sauce, as well as some lamb stew meat and a few vegetables.

The best part about any farmers market is meeting the passionate farmers.  I always learn so much about what I’m eating by just chatting with the vendors at the market.  They are always so helpful in giving me ideas on how to cook with what I’m buying.
